At the Y, what happens off the field is just as important as what happens on the field.

Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes with learning a new skill or building positive relationships that lead to good character and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out. Our sports programs are for all, they feature positive competition and their schedules are designed for family convenience.

OUTDOOR YOUTH SOCCER | Ages 3 - 5th Grade

Our soccer program helps kids become not only better soccer players, but better people as well. Youth soccer is a progressive program, with multiple age-specific levels. Every child gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition and family involvement.

Have Questions? We're here to help!
For questions about our sports leagues, please contact our Sports Coordinator. If you need help registering your child or have questions regarding payment, please call the Duneland Family YMCA at (219)926-4204 or email [email protected].

Q: Does the Y supply uniforms?

A: Beginning in 2021, each player will receive a reversible Duneland YMCA "all-sports" Youth Sports jersey included in the program fee. This jersey will be used for all competitive sports leagues.

After purchasing the jersey, returning players are encouraged to bring back their jerseys from the previous season. If a player does not have a uniform from a prior season or would like a new one, a jersey may be purchased at scheduled times leading up to the first game.

Q: What types of awards are given?

A: Each player will receive an individual participation award.

Q: Do you provide scholarships or financial assistance?

A: Yes, thanks to generous contributions to the YMCA’s Annual Giving campaign, scholarships are available to participants who qualify. Applications are available at the Duneland Family YMCA or by calling us at 219-926-4204.

Q: How does the refund policy work?

A: Cancellations received before the first practice are eligible for a full refund. Once practice has begun, but before the first game has been played, we will offer a full credit for YMCA programs. After the first game has been played we are unable to give any refunds or system credits.

Q: How are individual players placed on teams?

A: Participants are placed on teams based on their age and requests. The information you provide on the registration questionnaire plays a large role in how teams are drafted.

Q: What if I have a specific request?

A: We try to accommodate requests, but we cannot guarantee requests will be honored. Refunds are not provided due to an unfulfilled request. For teammate or coach requests, you must indicate whom you are requesting on the registration questionnaire.

Q: Who Can Play?

A: YMCA sports leagues are open to boys and girls of all skill levels. Participants do not need a YMCA membership to participate.

Q: When are practices and games?

A: Teams will practice once a week, Monday – Friday, typically in the afternoon or evenings for about an hour. Games are generally held on Saturdays and range from the morning through late afternoon.

Q: Where are practices and games held?

A: Practice and game locations vary depending on the sport.

Youth Soccer: Porter Care Express Soccer Fields

Gymnastics: Duneland Family YMCA

Please contact us if you are unsure of the location of your child's sports program.

Q: How are practice times determined?

A: Practice times and locations are scheduled by volunteer coaches, not by YMCA Youth Sports directors. Your volunteer coach will inform you of your child’s practice time and location about one to two weeks prior to the start of the season.

Q: How many games will we play?

A: For most sports leagues, we provide a seven-eight week season.

Q: How will I be notified about weather cancellations?

A: If the YMCA cancels for weather, the YMCA is responsible for notifying the guardian and coaches. Please visit our website or Facebook Page for updates in the case of inclement weather. If the coach decides to cancel, it is the coach’s responsibility to notify the team.

We combine spirit, mind, and body in an integrated approach to well-being that goes beyond just fitness.
