Thank You To Past Chief Volunteer Officer Rich Gardner

We'd like to thank Rich Gardner for his time, talent, and energy that he has devoted to our Y!

At the end of this year, Rich Gardner’s tenure on the Duneland Family YMCA Board of Directors is coming to an end. Since 2004, Rich has generously shared his time and talents. Rich has served in a variety of leadership roles, but most recently served for two years as the association's Chief Volunteer Officer (CVO) and led the Y through a Community Feasibility Study which resulted in the creation of the Forchetti Family YMCA Center for Early Learning.

Rich has also chaired the Building/Grounds Committee, the Governance Committee, the Annual Support Campaign and served as the co-MC of the Womanless Beauty Pageant and Dancing Like the Stars. Rich’s tenure will be defined by his strong leadership skills, his willingness to form outside partnerships, and his ability to work with the YMCA senior staff.  We can’t begin to thank Rich enough for all he has done to advance the mission of the Duneland YMCA.

Rich is the Technical Sales Manager for the Midwest division for FiberForce by ABC Polymer and has been involved in the concrete construction industry for more than 30 years.  A graduate of Munster High School & Drake University, Rich has been a Duneland resident for over 22 years.  He has been on the YMCA board for since 2005 and was board chair from 2016 to 2020.  His other community involvement includes Rebuilding Together and Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club.  Rich is married to his wife Jill and has two beautiful girls, Maggie & Anna.  Rich’s hobbies include (but are not limited to) golf, sporting clays, fishing, and exploring our Dunes State Park.
