Assistant Preschool Teacher at the Forchetti Family YMCA Center for Early Learning

Assistant Preschool Teacher at the Forchetti Family YMCA Center for Early Learning

We're hiring part-time assistant teacher positions at our Early Learning Center! Would you or someone you know be perfect for working in a safe place for kids where they learn, have fun and make friends?

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Early Childhood Director and lead teacher, the assistant teacher will supervise and guide children’s development in a safe and healthy environment. This person will assist in delivering an age-appropriate educational program utilizing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for the age group. This position will take place at the Forchetti Family Center for Early Learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • GED or High School degree.
  • Has 1 year of teaching experience
  • First Aid, Blood borne Pathogens, and Child Abuse prevention training prior to direct contact with children. CPR, AED, Listen First within 45 days of hire.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards required prior to direct contact with children.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds preferred.
  • Has reliable transportation

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Follow curriculum activities within the established guidelines.
  2. Must be available Monday through Friday
  3. Ensure the safety of all children; maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  4. Assist with systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  5. Build relationships by using names and initiating conversations with all members, staff, volunteers, and guests.
  6. Communicate with supervisor, staff, members, guests, and volunteers in a clear, concise, and positive manner while using Listen First skills.
  7. Arrive 5-10 minutes before shift starts and be prepared if closing; stay until the last child is gone.
  8. Assist with planning and implementation of daily activities.
  9. Be ready to initiate activities, participate in activities and interact with children.
  10. Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions.
  11. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents, and hazards.
  12. Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  13. Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other

Building Supervisor

The Duneland Family YMCA is hiring a part-time building supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Response to member and guest needs promotes memberships and programs and creates a welcoming environment. The Building Supervisor (in the absence of any other ranking director or coordinator) will be responsible for the overall supervision of the YMCA building and grounds. This person must supervise members, guests, staff, and volunteers to ensure that everyone follows the safety standards and policies of the YMCA. The Building Supervisor is also in charge of cleaning the building or helping the custodian if available. Free household membership is included. Must be available nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Duneland Family YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing areas, including such duties as mopping, dusting, and trash removal. May complete duties related to window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, snow removal, grounds keeping, and other related responsibilities. Free YMCA Household Membership is included. Night-time custodian: 5:30 pm–10:00 pm M-F and 12-5 pm Sunday (Saturdays off).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six months or more of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a unique opportunity to start a career with the Duneland Family YMCA! Working under the direction and supervision of the Early Childhood Director, this person will assist in delivering an age-appropriate educational program utilizing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for the age group. This person will ensure that the safety of children, quality of the education program and foster relationships with the parents are the top priorities of the department. This person is responsible for safe closing of the facility each day. This position will take place at the Forchetti Family Center for Early Learning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Right Candidate

  • Has a minimum of one of the following: a current CDA credential, A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in ECH Education or Elementary Education or equivalent.
    • Lead Caregivers who do not meet the above qualifications shall enroll in one of the educational programs listed above within 1 year of becoming a lead caregiver, have 8 additional in-service training per year appropriate to the age group with which the caregiver is working.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting (preferred)
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities (preferred)

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Must deliver excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants in the building, phone, and front desk. Response to member and guest needs, and promotes memberships and programs, and creates a welcoming environment. Maintain order in the lobby and behind the desk. Free household membership is included. Must be available nights and weekends. HOURS: 5 p.m. -9 p.m. M-F alternating, Sat 7 a.m.- 11 a.m. or 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds preferred.

Out of School Learning Lead Site Instructor/Teacher

Out of School Learning Site Instructor: Part-time Hourly + $300 SIGN ON BONUS

We're hiring enthusiastic, positive site instructors for our Out of School Learning (OOSL) program. Instructors will provide a fun and positive experience to youth in our local schools while leading them through structured activities such as homework time, gym time, and fun social interaction.

The Duneland Family YMCA is looking to hire Certified Personal Trainers. Assist with helping members learn to be healthy while they increase their self-esteem and learn life skills such as goal setting and consistency. 


Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Healthy Living Director and Head Personal Trainer, the Personal Trainer is responsible for providing effective and efficient service to health seekers. Maintain a professional attitude when assisting clients. Make every effort to assist them in attaining their health and wellness goals. Develop and implement Y signature in Healthy Living programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

a. Promote program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.
b. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations to improve health and wellness.
c. Design safe and effective 30 minutes to 1-hour personal training programs for individual clients,
d. adapting the strength training program to each person’s specific needs and abilities
e. Teach members proper and preferred use of all strength equipment
f. Provide individual supervision and enforcement during member’s training sessions
g. Assists in the development of member progress reports and wellness programs.
h. Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents, and hazards.
i. Stay up-to-date on certifications and latest concepts, trends, and techniques
j. Attend mandatory continuing education courses and training
k. Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
l. Create and implement effective exercise regimens.
m. Participate in outreach programs under the Healthy Living area of focus
n. Monitor Wellness floor to ensure exceptional member experience (I.e. re-rack weights, clean machines, remove trash and debris, replenish towels, log maintenance issues related to equipment, etc…)

d. Be a certified personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine
(NASM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or other reputable certification organization.
e. Minimum of 1 year Personal Training experience
