Fun Zone Aide

Fun Zone Aide: Part-time Hourly

We're hiring enthusiastic, responsible part-time staffers to help us provide a safe, supervised play environment! You'll watch the children of the YMCA members while their parents or guardians are on the premises. Children in your care will range from 6 weeks to 12 years old. This is a part-time position.


POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Program Aide will be responsible for the care of the children in Play & Learn; ensuring a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment. He/she will foster children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth, and demonstrate the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility and will interact positively with parents to develop a trusting relationship.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 16 years old

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Assist in providing a quality environment in the Fun Zone, taking into consideration the needs of each child and the goals and objectives of the YMCA
  • Provide positive interaction with children, parents and staff using the core values as guidelines. 
  • Be responsible for the safety of the children at all times and carry out emergency procedures when necessary; continually interacts with the children, when in room and parents as they enter and leave the Fun Zone area (includes greeting parents immediately upon their arrival.) 
  • Maintains the diapering and feeding schedules, and infant reports as set forth by Coordinator; adheres to and maintains the cleaning schedule; monitors usage of the sign in/sign out sheets, ensuring all parents are signing in and out properly. 
  • Professionally handles any conflict or emergency situation that may arise with members or staff; Reports all concerns or problems to Supervisor. 
  • Shows flexibility in working where needed as numbers of children fluctuate.
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings under the direction of the Supervisor. Required child care trainings including acquiring minimum training hours according to the YMCA Training Ladder and ensure staff meets same requirements.
  • All other duties assigned as needed.
Summer Camp Counselor

Summer Day Camp Counselor: Seasonal Hourly

We're hiring enthusiastic, positive role models to help us provide a safe, fun environment at camp this summer!

QUALIFICATIONS:
The right candidate is:

  • Great with (and responsible around) kids
  • Warm, friendly, and open
  • Multitasking-oriented
  • At least 18 years old
  • Has experience in one or more of the following areas: outdoor activities, archery, song/music, skits, sports, aquatics, or recreational games (preferred)

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Supervises a group of children in sight and sound.
  2. Nurtures children through purposeful programming; plans activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are culturally relevant, are developmentally appropriate, and are consistent with the Y’s values.
  3. Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth; models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  4. Provides opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and choices within the camp and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiences.
  5. Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with families about their child’s needs and progress.
  6. Maintains program site and equipment to programs standards including safety and cleanliness.
  7. Follows all YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  8. Maintains the open communication policy with the Program Director or staff member deemed in charge.
  9. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  10. Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description
Out of School Learning Lead Site Instructor

Out of School Learning Site Instructor: Part-time Hourly

We're hiring enthusiastic, positive site instructors for our Out of School Learning (OOSL) program. Instructors will provide a fun and positive experience to youth in our local schools while leading them through structured activities such as homework time, gym time, and fun social interaction.

Instructors must be able to work Monday-Friday one or both shifts: Before school care is from 5:55 am - 8:15 am; After school care is from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The right candidate is:

  • Great with (and responsible around) kids
  • Warm, friendly, and open
  • Multitasking-oriented
  • At least 21 years old
  • Have a minimum of one of the following: a current CDA credential, A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in ECH Education or Elementary Education or equivalent.
    • Lead Instructors who do not meet the above qualifications shall enroll in one of the educational programs listed above within 1 year of becoming a lead caregiver, have 8 additional in-service training per year appropriate to the age group with which the caregiver is working.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
  2. Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
  3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
  4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  5. Conducts parent conferences, maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
  6. Maintains program site and equipment.
  7. Maintains required program records. 
  8. Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards. 
  9. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  10. Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtain and maintain required trainings.
  11. Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
Out of School Learning Assistant Site Instructor

Out of School Learning Assistant Site Instructor: Part-time Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a unique opportunity to start a career with the Duneland Family YMCA! Working under the direction and supervision of the Early Childhood Director, this person will assist in delivering an age-appropriate educational program utilizing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for the age group. This person will ensure that the safety of children, quality of the education program and foster relationships with the parents are the top priorities of the department. This person is responsible for safe closing of the facility each day. This position will take place at the Forchetti Family Center for Early Learning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Right Candidate

  • Has a minimum of one of the following: a current CDA credential, A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in ECH Education or Elementary Education or equivalent.
    • Lead Caregivers who do not meet the above qualifications shall enroll in one of the educational programs listed above within 1 year of becoming a lead caregiver, have 8 additional in-service training per year appropriate to the age group with which the caregiver is working.

Group Exercise Instructor

The Duneland Family YMCA is looking to hire Group Exercise Instructors.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Duneland Family YMCA is currently seeking Group Exercise Instructors for the following: Licensed Zumba Instructor, Certified Yoga Instructor, Certified Les Mills BodyPump Instructor, HIIT and Bootcamp. This position
supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Group Exercise Instructor at Duneland Family YMCA serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting them and inviting them to
get involved and give back to the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Has national certification in group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA group exercise instructor certification required.
  • Certification in area of expertise required. CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required.
  • Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
  • At least one year of experience teaching group exercise classes preferred.

Lifeguard

Lifeguard

The YMCA is looking for experienced swim instructors and lifeguards to join the family at the Y. Help the youth of today learn to be healthy while they increase their self-esteem and learn life skills such as goal setting and determination.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, Aquatic Coordinator and the Head Lifeguard, the Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants in and around the pool, which includes responding to emergencies and administering CPR and First Aid effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification or equivalent which will include First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications.
  • Must have the ability to pass the basic Lifeguarding skills test.
  • Must possess and have the ability to relate to and communicate with people of all ages, cultures and abilities.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff.
