LEARN, GROW, THRIVE

Healthy child development starts early. That’s why we offer an Early Childhood Development Program that help children learn the essential skills they’ll need later on. Our trained, supportive staff work to help everyone have the best possible start in their education!

The Early Childhood Development Program allows children to: grow personally, clarify values, develop specific skills, improve personal & family relationships, and become better leaders. Early Learners become instilled with the YMCA’s mission of developing the spirit, mind and body of each individual and encouraging an atmosphere of cooperation, mutual respect, and a safe environment for all.

We use the Creative Curriculum, which balances teacher‐ planned and child‐initiated learning, emphasizing responsiveness to children's strengths, interests, needs, and learning styles. The curriculum includes activities such as dramatic play, language, science, math, social studies, music, art, and large and small motor development.

Jump Into Kindergarten - July 31 to August 11, 2017 - Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 12:00pm

“Jump into Kindergarten”, an exciting summer Pre-K program for students who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2017. “Jump into Kindergarten” will provide your child with the skills needed for a smooth entry into the elementary school world. Focusing on both academic and social classroom skills, this program will make the transition into kindergarten a little less mysterious.

Education experts agree that, over the summer, many children can lose up to 2/3 of the knowledge that they accumulated during the previous school year. This holds true for preschoolers as well as older students. “Jump into Kindergarten” will keep that knowledge alive and ready for the start of a new school year!

Each week we will focus on number and letter/letter sound recognition, handwriting and journaling, sight words, basic math, science, geography and social and emotional skills. Movement and physical activities, and music and crafts are also included. For more information contact Shannon Spratley by phone (219) 921-0138 or email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
